Went out with TejasDigger on Friday to some parks in the "Cultural Area" here in town and apparently wasnt Cultural enough because within the first 5 minutes of driving down the street we were pulled over by the Police and questioned what we were doing.. Well they were really cool and told us the only reason they pulled us over was because they saw 2 white males in a car :dontknow:. But was informed the area is high for drugs and crime :-[

But we managed to find a couple parks and started swinging for awhile.. TejasDigger found a Wheatie and a Silver Rosie at the first park..then we had a guy come up asking to many questions about how much things cost :-\

So we hit the Next Park and withing the first 10 minutes i found my 1st Wheatie for the day..then not 3 feet away i got a deep signal and dug up a 1943 Merc...I was Stoked!!.. I had to keep my cool since i was with someone hunting :laughing9: But after i went over and show him..I noticed there was still a strong Dime target in the hole..Could this 2 Mercs??..Well i dug a bit deep and coulndt get it pinpointed very good.. So TejasDigger came over and pinpointed it better for me and i was about an Inch off...So i dug the Corner of the Hole and out popped this Silver and Gold Ring!!!..This is the first REAL ring i ever found..When i found it i thought it was all Sterling until i got home and cleaned it and realized the top part is all 10k and the banding is Sterling..WoW.. I The sad thing is the mode i had my detector in i would have never found it if it was all gold :icon_scratch:

So after i calm down from my Merc and Sweet Ring..I hit another good target just steps away from the Silvers...I dug a decent size plug since my pinpointing was way off that day..and i flip to the plug to see coin edges all throught out the dirt...WHAT!!!!!..I was in total Shock because all i saw was Silver...But sadly after inspection, found out they were just some sort of Promotion Token..Still Pretty cool..But not as cool if it was Silvers...I ended up digging out 17 of these Tokens from one hole..
Now i have heard of Pocket Spills...But 17??..I couldnt see this even being possible for a pocket spill that never got noticed..Considering these things were the Size of Quarters..But either way..I was happy to add them to my Finds

So at the End of the day i ended up with these nice looking 1943 Merc Dime

a Silver and 10k Gold Ring missing its stone (15.8 grams)..Its hard to tell how much is actually gold and silver

and 17 Aluminum Shells Presidentail Tokens Minted in 1968 from the info i found..Dont know if there worth anything..but happy to dig one hole for 17 coins/tokens

Thanks for lookin

I found around 30 of those things in about 4ft area. Presidential tokens.

I have hit the "hoods" a few times myself. From my PD experience and working Code Enforcement in those areas I know that the gangsters don't get sober and get up and around until after 10:00 or so, usually around noon. So I went early and the only problems I encountered was some young gang banger wantabes going to school about 7:30 or so, and they were more harassing than dangerous. I found some decent coins and one good pocket spill. And you'd be surprised at the silver coins because no one ever detects in those areas. Nice finds, and stay safe. Monty

I hunt some urban areas and never had a problem but I did feel like two guys were trying to pull something once. I just headed back to the truck. I only hunt this area during the day and try to stay in view of the streets.

Congrats on the finds... Found a bunch of those token awhile back and had an older gentleman tell me there were from an old game they use to play in the 60's and 70's.
