Finding The Fob's

So we haven't had much rain and I haven't been swinging the coil that much either. We got a heavy storm middle of last week and some more rain Friday night. Seen a place on late 19th-century atlas. A Church with a school right next to it. Pack up Saturday and drive a little out of town. Knock on the door and tell the man who I am and what I'm about. He says go ahead there might be something left. Two years ago another person showed up and spent two days there. I asked if he found anything and the guy said he never came back up to the house to show him anything. Needless to say, I had an itch that needed scratching. I pulled a lot of iron, a horseshoe and a lot of wire that was everywhere. I was ready to call it quits and just kept asking for a coin. Got a mid tone about four inches and it was solid, not all scratchy. Pulled an 1899 IHP from the plug and decided to stay a little bit longer. Heat kicked in, I went back to the house and showed the kind man what I had found. He smiled and said looks like the guy left you some and come back anytime.

Sunday rolls around and I got a couple hours early afternoon to get out some more. Was going to check out some City lots but they don't mow them all that well. Went by a couple and grass was knee high. The last place has three lots side by side and the grass was calf high and a few patchy spots. I hit the tree row first and pulled a couple quarters and dimes. I'm thinking cool, virgin ground. Jump up into the lots and then the penny montage starts. Coppers and zincs but no wheats. I got a low 80's tone but bouncing around a little bit. Pop the plug and it's in it. Pinpointer in the plug and out slides a piece of metal. Pick it up and recognize what it is right away. An old watch fob. This is my third one in about six weeks or so. There must be some kind of glitch in the Matrix. This one had an old looking plane on it and just looked cool. Thin compared to the others. Scratched around some more and pulled a 1974 Indy 500 Pit Pass Pin. I also found what I believe to be a Crop Pickers Check. Well, I've kept you long enough. I collect watches so the fobs are fabs! Airplane cool and unusual. I would do a little research. From the age of the plane that was a pretty small club back then. not many fliers

Thanks Mister, I found a couple online but not too much history on anything. Tuff to search without no maker's name. I will agree with the plane being unusual looking.

I love fobs! I have found a few over the years, but never that many at once. They are some of my favorite things to find! My favorite fob is a hundred year old fob with all of it's silver plating still on, commemorating the two hundred year anniversary celebration of the local church I have walked by for the past 12 years (since I moved to the town). Now that I am moving to another town, the find is much more special to me.
