My buddy and I were given permission to hunt a 1779 house on the south shore- lots of EMI and mineralization made it very difficult- had to turn the sensitivity WAY down. First decent signal turned out to be my first shield nickel in quite a while- appeared to be 1866 or 8, until the dirt dried, flaked off and took the date with it! Next was an 1889 Indian, very worn and not worth a pic.

Got a real nice signal near a tree, but it was almost totally covered by thick roots, so after leaving much skin behind I finally nabbed an older wheat penny at 6"- very depressing >:(. Just a few feet away, however; karma rewarded the previous effort with 2 silvers, just a foot apart, and only a few inches down- 1931 Merc & 1936 Washington. Also nabbed a pretty cool button on the back side of the house.

All in all, not a bad day..

HH All!

Very nice finds Jeff, congrats!

You really had to work for those, the ground just didn't want to give them up!

Thanks my friend- hope you're getting out and finding some goodies!

Well done, Sir! Congrats on those really sweet coins. Cool button too.

Nice going Jeff! I've only ever found 2-3 shield nickles. Hard to come by, and seldom do they come out of the ground in good shape. Congrats on all your finds!

Very nice hunt. Hope you make it back to dig up more!

That pic looks familiar, your lucky t- shirt paid off!
