These are my finds from this past week. These are all from the same farm site in Winchester, Va. Last Sunday I found a spencer bullet a burnside and another bullet...but not sure what kind it is. Found a flat button a knife and what I think is the back of a pocket watch. Monday me and my cousin went out and it started snowing HARD...blizzard like conditions. 5 minutes later the sun was out and all the snow was gone. I found a colt pistol bullet a couple burnsides and a carbine sling j hook I believe. Went to another area of the farm on Tuesday where I found my cavalry button last year. Found what I believe was a small campsite in this area...found like 2 colts and 2 burnsides. Yesterday I found 2 burnsides, one almost with the cartridge fully intact and a colt.
Went out today after work with my cousin and a buddy from work to the same campsite area. Wasn't finding much with the new F75. I finally hit a 60-70 vdi at 8 inches by a tree and it was a spencer. I walked all through these woods with no luck and went back to the area where I was finding most of the stuff and found this weird thing that looks like it has gears on it. Found a rivet with a little leather still on it and as I was about to leave I get a 67 vdi and for some reason even though I never have found a coin in these woods, I thought maybe it was a clad dime or maybe even a mercury dime a hunter had dropped over time. But to my surpise it was a 1897 barber dime! This is my first EVER silver coin found since I started detecting last July. Needless to say I was very thrilled with that and then called it a day! Thanks for looking and happy hunting!
