Hey guys, this was a very tough hunt. The amount of melted lead, copper and aluminum that is here will blow your detector up. Not to mention the junk. This site will require a lot of work to get to the good stuff but, it's there. I was surprised that I never found a single coin or flat button but the mealt is everywhere as I suspected. Finds should get better as I clean the site.
Not complaining, I had a great day for a relic nut. My best find on the house site was part of a nickel plated derringer that is way cool and what I think is a cufflink. Got tired of digging mealt so I moved away from the house site to an old orchard about 100 yards away and found a fired pistol ball and my best find of the day. It's a Virginia souvenir badge that says, worlds exposition on it. It's in great shape. I haven't had time to research it yet so welcome any info. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.View attachment 1261123 uploadfromtaptalk1452979265886.webpuploadfromtaptalk1452979549302.webpuploadfromtaptalk1452979613988.webpuploadfromtaptalk1452979613988.webpuploadfromtaptalk1452979631716.webp

just curious--if your going to dig everything --why put on a smaller coil?
My thoughts of the sniper coil is that it will help eliminate some of the iron masking and help a bunch with target separation. To "dig it all" one would have to dig and shift a site like this. I would consider that if the good finds start to turn up. A sniper coil should help determine that.

Sweet finds. I really like the exposition pin. It's in great shape. Worth cleaning out all the junk for the goodies you got and will get. Congrats. HH

Nice to see you're still swinging. That souvenir is way cool. :occasion14:

Good Question....

I should be more clear , 'Put on the Smaller Coil & dig everything that gives a solid Nickel Signal , to get those smaller target's that were masked (by Good size Iron) likely. Or yeah leave on the larger go All Metal & Dig it all.

Little badges were a popular souvenir in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Most hung like yours did, just like a war medal, except very thin and light. You are quite lucky to have the hanger.

Here is mine from the "Fireman's Celebration". Every year they held a fair to raise money for the local fire department.

Congrats on a sweet find!
