TimC and I Drove from WI to Ca Early Sat morning, arriving Late Sunday night. Too much driving. We finally took a break from sightseeing to detect an area on my girlfriend's property. The first pic is about 50 years old. My gf is on the right... she believes she was 9 at the time. The second pic is the same area today. Some trees are gone, including the corral. Now, in the middle of the "corral" is the house pump. The third pic shows our finds. Meager, indeed! Several spent rifle shells, tip to a fabric belt, some clad coin and one wheat ('30). The piece of "jewelry" is hard to figure out. I think it is part of a purse or bag. Oh, the forth pic is of the used auto lot we discovered. Will do some more detecting on our slow return to WI next week. TTC

Hey AA,
I'm not a stranger to CA! My son lives near LA and I've been to and from CA about a dozen times in the last 20 years. As I write this, I'm on the side of Table Mountain (Murphys,CA). Tomorrow we will hunt the old site of Brownsville, CA. All wineries today. I am told, the only remnant of the old town is a grave near the base of a very old oak tree. Saturday it's back on the road to WI..... by way of WY, MT, and SD. Thanks, AA for the reply..... TTC

cool also i am a Marine Brat my father was a master sergeant and we spent time down in Pendelton. Before he retired he put in 26 years in Fresno and Tulare in the anti tank division. He died years ago but i still hold on to his dress blues for respect.

Sounds like a fun hunt. Nice digs.

Nice finds! I especially like the VW Bug. Used to have a '69. Wish I'd never sold it.

Nice 30 wheatie. I call souther california my second home as I lived there for 10 years. Even though it's a "Rat Race" out there it's in my blood and I can't get rid of it. Thats why I take loads out there all the time. Spent a lot of time at Pendleton and 29 palms and San diego as a "Hat" :coffee2:

Hello,I know the Brownsville site well.Your right that whole area is all stinking grapes!!I remember when that was all still grazing land!!I would like to see what you find there. That era camp is my passion.
