Hi all,

Picture 1 shows a 'all together find' from a battlefield near Berlin.First a 'Battle of Salla' badge, then two 'Eismeer-Marschabzeichen' from the 3rd German Mountain Division. But the lower one??? I think 'Alakurtti' was a special part of front. :icon_scratch:

Picture 2 shows a badge I have got by a friend of mine.I think it's the troop-badge of finnish volunteers in the III.(finn.)/SS "Nordland" Division, isn't it???
All badges have screw-discs backside;marked "HOPEATAKOMO O.Y."

Greetings, Sven

Great finds, i cannot help you with I.D them, but these finds are beautiful. :P

Alakurtti (Russian: Алакуртти; Finnish: Alakurtti) is a town of 6,671 inhabitants (2002), situated on Kola Peninsula in Murmansk oblast, Northwest Russia. Alakurtti administered by Kandalaksja. The town was until 1940 part of Finnish Lapland Province.

History
30 November 1939 Alakurtti was burned down by Finnish troops, and in March 1940 included the city in the Soviet republic Karelo-Finnish SSR. In June 1941 the city was taken by German and Finnish troops and 14 September 1944 again by Soviet troops.

@ Collimore:

Thank you for this very interesting answer!
I dug the four badges on a battlefield near Berlin, some years ago. They were in a small camera-film box together with a silver plated ring. All findings of that area belonged to german mountain troops. (North-Front Cross,'Edelweiss' for a cap, finnish 'Puuko' knives and others...)

The finnish SS-badge is a flea-market find, but of same manufacters character as the others.

Greetings from 'still frozen' Berlin, Sven

Seems like a Finn who joined the Waffen SS, and fought with the Gebirgsdivision Nord. And maybe later was transfered to the Nordland Division or Wiking.

Great stuff! keep it coming!

Upper four badges is not exactly military badges. They are something like souvenir badges. Cant use them with uniform. Finnish made. These are about 70-100 euros each these days.

This second badge is wiking or nordland division padge.

Great finds!

old souvenir armband :wink::
