The kid and I got a new permission the other day and went to check it out this evening. The owner told us he had a cheap metal detector and already hit the yard but, only found trash. We told him when we returned to hunt the yard we'd bring the spare AT Pro and give him a quick run down what to look for. After a quick lesson with the AT Pro we started the hunt.
At first the kid was the only one finding anything starting off with a wheat spill, a buffalo, followed up with a Indian Head.
Then the owner was digging an older Indian of his own. While he was pulling his Indian, I was flipping a plug for my first silver of the evening a 1920 merc. Five minutes later I found a 1924 merc. Searching around the area I got the two mercs I found what looks like a silver ring. It's not marked silver, but it's marked "coin". Anyone ever see any of these rings or know anything about them?
My only other worthy finds for this hunt was a few wheats and a Diamomd Basket Ball Token. Just before we quit for the evening the kid found a totally black 1942 merc.
Before we left I asked the owner to see his Indian Head. As he was going through his pockets looking for the IH, he pulled out a wheat and a Rosie he found. As soon as I saw the Rosie I knew he also found some silver.
I asked the owner if he was holding out on us. Lol he looked at me and said what do you mean? He didn't realize his Rosie was silver, I think it was a 48.
Once again no pics from the kid yet and I never got a pic of the owners finds.
