First day MD'ing
I bought my 4 year old son a Bounty Hunter "Fun Finder" and bought my self the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202. We went down to the playground in our neighborhood and started finding bottle caps and nails down to around 8" in the sand. Since our neighborhood straddles the Old Spanish Trail from Pensacola to St. Augustine, I decided to try a clearing just below the play ground that is immediately adjacent to the trail. No we didnt find any Spanish Reals or Pieces of 8 but we did find an old trash pit or old homestead site with fragments of hand blown glass bottles, many very old bricks, and believe it or not dried fish skins. The metal we picked up were a couple of iron nails, a large diameter iron bolt, and something that appears to be part of an old type of picture frame. All of the items were embedded in about 6 inches of clay.
Lot's of fun and we'll probably head over there tomorrow as well.
