I was hunting with my little buddy Johnny, he went hunting with me earlier in the summer on my best ever silver finds in one day. Here is a pic of him with that silver Boy Scout ring he had found that day.

We went to the new farm field permission, I had been waiting for them to finish up deer hunting. I found a 1919 Wheat and two crotal bells (spelling?) and he found a 1927 Merc and a 1955 Wheat. The fields were very muddy and I did not take my phone because I knew it was going to be messy. We were not really able to hunt everywhere, there was standing water on most areas. Good start for the little bit we did do.

Last Sat we hunted together at the farm fields where the owner swore I wasn't going to find anything. That day Johnny found what I believe to be a powder flask? Any help on the ID of Johnny's flask would be greatly appreciated? Here is a pic, I'm trying to get him to send better pix of it.

Yes it is a flask. I tried to search the half one I found a week or so ago, but there are so many designs, and very little info for dating

He should be very proud of that, and to hold history in his hand.

Yes, crotal bells for spelling, but you have a very rare one there, shaped oblong. Both are great finds but that one is super

Congratualtions on the powder flask, a real beautiful piece of history recovered.

Two super crotal balls there.

Great hunt with great finds. I like those ornate powder flasks.

Johnny text me at 8:00 last night asking if we could go today for a late afternoon hunt after his baseball practice. I'm going to try and get some better pix of the flask so I can put them up.

Well done Treb, those are some really nice finds but the real treasure is, You taking the time to teach Johnny that there are lots of things to do recreationally instead of video games and TV. This young man will never forget your kindness.
