Hello all! I went metal detecting for the first time today and discovered a small metal box! After some help from lemon juice I was able to get it open! Inside was a neckless pendant made of copper, brass, or gold! I'm not sure what metal it is but I'm more interested in its age and history! I also found some bottles from the 1800s within inches of its location! I'm looking for any input or info on my first find! Thanks everyone

Can you get some clearer pictures? I have no idea myself, other than what you already said. Cool looking find for a first. :) PS: Maybe you have an old dump site.

Makeup compacts can be round or rectangular, most are brass and have hinges and mirrors.
your box looks ferrous :dontknow:
I see something that looks like it may be the remains of the 'puff' ? any glass?
Anyway, good move checking the inside, even tobacco tins can hold treasure.
I was pretty sure the one below was a cigarette case, and a good candidate for coin holder,
set it aside to prolong the excitement and forgot about it until I found another compact that did
have a coin inside, when I opened this one, it just had the mirror and remains of puff.
(note the blue coloring similar to the inside of yours, size and shape too..)
Keep on diggin
