We moved in to our new house at the end of December, and I've been able to get out and try the yard 3 times now (once in February and the last 2 nights) I usually only post in the Michigan forum, but thought I would share some pics. Still snow on the ground and about 75% of my yard is still too frozen, but I've had a blast so far. HH, Griff

What a cool house you have!

sweet finds!!!!!!!!!! and all IHs after 1864 have the L.. MR TUFF

Victorian home yards are the best place to hunt. Dont forget to crawl under the porch!

With finds like that on your own lawn I would not be able to stay in the house ! ;D MaineRelic

It's a military button that is not really that old
Thanks everyone for the nice comments....yes I love having an old yard to play in, and I haven't hit under the porch yet, but most definitely will. HH all, Griff

Very cool that you can make finds like that in your own yard. Hopefully there's more waiting for you. Good luck!

Very nice finds. I was wondering how you clean your coins. I really like the whistle too. If you could tell me that would be great.

We are very fortunate here in Michigan to have soil that is great on the coppers, except when lawns have been treated. I usually give the copper coins a bath in hot peroxide and lightly scrub them with a worn out chore boy. After that, rub them with a little olive oil. Have experimented a little bit with the nickels and using Worcestershire sauce and have decent results, but I only cleaned that buff with water and then a little olive oil. Of course the silver you don't have to do anything to. :icon_thumright:

What a fun site, I hope to see much more comin!!

Congrats :headbang:

Cheers

actually, that is an oiler......... as ya screw it in, it puts grease on whatever it fit!

This is the threader I was talking about. They had a bent wire at the end you slipped through the eye of the needle and pulled the thread through. Kind of a neat item.

Thank you. I detect in Wisconsin and some coins are horrible when it comes to condition. It seem the ground just eats the coin.
