I have been reading treasurenet for the past three months and patiently
waiting for winter to finaly come to an end. I have an old metal detector that
my father bought for me when I was a kid. I loved metal detecting and fishing with
my dad. After my father passed away 4 years ago I put all my gear into the storage room
and gave up both hobbies. Well I found treasurenet and my old passion got relit.
So today was a beautiful day and I took the old metal detector out and hit the playground
across the street from my home. I found mostly clad, a metal tag from a ring bouy and
what I think is either a washer or part of a sprinkler head. The weather was great and I
had a great time. I am so glad I found this place. I have been reading all the forums
and am completly hooked.

Welcome to this twisted site. ;D
Glad to see you're back at it again. I like that tag you found.
What detector are you using? How old is old?
Congrats,
MM

The detector I am using says micronata 4001 on it. It really is a toy, lol.
I imagine my dad bought it for for me back in the 80's from Radioshack.
I am going to buy myself a new detector as soon as I can. I need to find one
that is really light and easy to hold.

Very nice. I think I would be doing a little jig after that hunt. You got me fired up for my first serious hunt in 31 years today, after two weeks of serious practice.
I imagine your Dad is looking down from above and with a proud smile saying, "That's my kid"
Thanks for posting.

Thanks for all the warms welcomings. I look forward to being part of
this forum. I appreciate the info on the ring thing. I think its kinda neat!

That's quite the kitty ya got there, mjak!

Nice finds, too!

I'm new to this hobby and I swing a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV - it's a good starter detector, easy to use, inexpensive and it's light as a feather. I was shocked at how light it was - it feels like 3 ounces!

good luck!

That cat is my Mitzy. She is not gigantic its just the angle of the picture.
She lays like that on the couch just about every night. I guess she likes
to just let it all hang out, lol. I checked your bounty hunter on ebay it looks
like it might be what I need. Thanks for the info. I am very small and have tiny hands and know I need something light and easy to hold.
