Headed back to the cellar hole today, the house was used during the civil war as a headquarters/ fort. I’ve pulled bullets, eagle buttons, and other items from here. The signals are becoming few and far between. Very hard to find anything worth digging so I’ve started digging every tone no matter how iffy to fully clear it out.
Found my first civilian flat button! Looks to be silver plated on the back where the shank was attached. I thought it was an old coin (still hoping to find a 1800s coin) (oldest I’ve found is 1902)
A squished mini buckle frame with pretty dotted detailing around outside.
A civil war “caltrop” an anti horse/ Calvary device. (The iron jack looking item.)
Two square nails.
A more modernish looking pants button.
Two modern bullets.
{Hopefully there is a plate, more eagle buttons, and an 1800s coin still there for me!)
