FIRST GOLD!!! BEST FIND!!! Couldn't Keep it
Hi Everyone.
Yesterday afternoon I thought I would check out a new location. I like to hunt parks, schools, and the beach when time allows. I was at a school I hadn't ever hunted and was doing OK. I had picked up about 60 cents in clad with my BH 505 and was heading toward a soccer goal (for some reason soccer goals are real lucky for me) anyway about 20 feet from the goal I got that sweet high tone and checked the read out. I was showing dime at about 2" down. I dug expecting to find a clad dime, boy was I shocked when I saw the back part of rather large looking ring. I cleaned the ring off and saw that it was one solid looking class ring. A Texas A&M University class ring class of 1976! 10K gold and a full name engraved inside. I took pictures of me holding the ring but I have to track down the transfer cable to get them off the camera. I did find a nice close up shot of the ring on the Aggie's website. It looks identical to this one except there is a 76 in place of 02 shown in the picture. I looked up the name inscribed in the ring on the internet and found the gentlemen's name, address and phone number. His address was very close to the school. I called and asked if he had lost a college ring and asked him to please identify the school and year of graduation. He gladly told me Texas A&M and class of 1976. I said Yes Sir! I have your ring. He dropped by this afternoon with a big smile, shook my hand and handed me a thank you card and told my wife and I to have a nice dinner on him. When I opened the card there was a nice note thanking me and 3 twenty dollar bills.
It was really great getting such a beautiful ring back to its original owner plus an unexpected reward. I my not have my best find ever but the thank you note will always be a nice reminder.
One thing still puzzles me about the find. The ring is 10K gold by the BH ring in as silver
Anyone know why? HH everyone I will try to post me holding the real ring in a day or so.
