Detector(s) used
Garrett Treasure Ace 300
after about a year lurking here, I finally broke down and got a metal detector, a Garrett Treasure Ace 300 for $66 at Goodwill yesterday and took it out today. I tried a little in the backyard to learn it and found a pull tab straight off, my 18-year-old got excited about it too and took over and found a rusty nail.

We live across the street from an elem. school & tot lot so I said let's go although it was nearing 100 degrees; I was just too excited. I couldn't keep it away from her and she found a quarter and a couple of pennies. She finally got too hot and went home and I kept on hunting for about another hour. In total we found $1.58 in change and I found a nice little copper ring there. Also found a couple of beer cans but didn't hang on to those. Most importantly, I had a blast!!

If you had a blast, then you truly found the "treasure" of the hobby!

Glad you finely got a detector.

Yes, no doubt whatsoever. I think the lighting made it look gold in the picture but it's brownish red, definitely copper.

Congrats, first outting and first ring.
There is gold and silver out there waiting on you too.
"You are hooked" :laughing7:
