Wasn't able to hunt the last 2 Mondays. I wasn't about let another Monday pass without getting out to hunt. I hunted from 9:30 to 3:30. Temps didn't get as high as the weather lady said, but better than it's been.

4th target in the wet sand was my first ring of the year. It's marked 10k, but doesnt look it.

Scooped up a Zachary Taylor dollar coin at the water line.

21 coins= $2.14

Congrats on the ring willie, nice hit on your first hunt of the year, hope it's a sign of many rings to come for you this year. No ring for the Steelers though Nevermind :tongue3: That ring looks good from the pic

Re: First hunt of 2010

Better than my first hunt. I came up with $.89, a 3oz. sinker, and a tent peg. I hope the ring tests ok for you, nice way to start out the year.

Re: First hunt of 2010

Hey Willie, get a jewelry cleaning cloth and put some elbow grease into rubbing that ring. I bet it shines up really nice and GOLD!!!

I found a 10K woman's cocktail ring with a cluster of diamonds on it in the shape of a football last year. When I scooped it up I thought it was a junk ring because of the color. After I got home and saw the 10K stamp inside, I got out my polishing cloth and WHAMO - it is a beautiful gold ring.

I believe that if 10K has been in the salt water for many years, the alloys used in the metal which bring it down to 10K are discolored by the salt water, just like pure silver will blacken.

Way to go, and please share some detailed pics of your ring once you've polished it up.

Jim
