Sorry for the bad picture I found a war nickel and silver quarter that day as well with handful o' weaties HH

Finding your first merc is a cool thing, I can still remember finding my first merc, it was actually in my own back yard.

Thanks I found it last month but I only joined the forum today:hello:

Congrats on your Merc find. One of my favorite designed coins.

It is the coolest thing.tons of clad, but when that first silver shows its face, its a different ball game, the metal detecting addiction becomes worse!

So true,i found 30 quarters (clad) $10.10 in all with dimes pennies nickels,BUT if i only found one merc,i would have gotten that WOW awesome feeling again!!!

Congrats on that first pretty Merc. :icon_thumright: May it be the first of many.

(Now you'll have to change your user name to "mercfinder13." :laughing7: )

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Merc! Found my first one last year! Sounds like you were swinging on a great location. GO BACK!! :icon_thumright:

Congrats on the first silver coin! Funny how almost everyone's first silver coin turns out to be a Merc from the 40s (as was my first and second silver coins--found on the same hunt--I will never forget these!). So is this your 7th or 20th old coin? :laughing7: Just out of curiosity what is your yardstick for an "old" coin? Wheat, silver, or older? Sounds reasonable. I, for some reason unbeknownst to me, have decided that an older wheat is pre-war (WW II). Congrats again on the nice find!

I found that last month by now my total is 11 silvers 32 wheaties 2 buffalo nickels

Congrats. This seems to be the weekend of first Mercs. I got mine yesterday: 1924.

Congrats--nicely done!

All the best,

Lanny

Congrats on your first! Make sure it's not a 1942 with the 2 over a 1. That would be worth a few bucks. The Philly one is easy to see. The Denver one is a bit less obvious

Congrats!! My first Merc was a 1940. Found it under a tree in an old park.

This was my first merc but my first silver was a 1964 dime in the hole with a 1970 penny thanks everyone HH
