First mystery Find

Hello All,
Second day out with my Son and we found this item. I'm in Northern Virginia and this was found about 5 feet from an old stone wall.
The metal seems kind of dense, not a flimsy feeling at all. The wide open end is just a hair smaller then the end of a broom handle.
Could be something cool, could be junk. My 9 year old Son and I are excited either way!

Hello I love stone walls Kids would hang out around them.I find a lot of toys next to and close by them.Your find reminds me of a smoke stack off a toy train.Keep looking you may find the rest of it.Osage

It looks like some kind of a ferrule, possibly off of a walking stick or cane.

Or a tool of some sort, many had those ferrules on their handles.
