FIRST NIGHT HUNT KINDA FREAKY....

I was  working  down by  the  beach  tonight  and  got  off  early so I decided to  go for  a quick spin. The  beach was  completely deserted.  moon was not out  . you could not  see anything . I had  a head lamp on. I stayed  close to where I was parked ,I worked about  200 yards of beach,in between the  2 lifeguard  towers, I got to tell ya it freak me  out . I wasn't there  long  enough  to  to get anything,but there's  something  to  be  said  about  night  hunting  ,pretty damned peace full.I don't recommend going alone , The area I was  hunting is  pretty safe though ,, Next time I'll have someone with me ...  Guzz1

I saw someone else mentioned turning off your headlamp so you have better night vision. Interesting fact I got from Mythbusters show. The pirate patch over one eye was so they could go from below deck lights to above deck total darkness by switching patch from one eye to the other. One eye was adjusted for darkness while the other was adjusted for light.

If you're going to hunt at night, use a red light (it won't affect your night vision). There were a lot of other good suggestions too. Mainly, turn off your light when not retrieving a target.

i saw that mythbusters episode....it really worked according to them........it was if they had been down below with lamps burning and the came under attack at night they would switch the patch to the other eye that was already adjusted to darkness

Isn't it amazing that we law abiding folks have to go through all the crap that we do to enjoy a simple pleasure in life? Remember that it is the pols that have taken away the police dep'ts authority to crack the heads and break the bones of the BG.

Yes the fire station moved to the Lido pavillion for maybe more than a year, while the new station is going to be built-I work for the fire dept and stationed at Lido. And yes there is a few transients out from time to time, and possibly a few bad people. But I have never had a problem day or night anywhere in the Sarasota county beach areas.

That's nice to know really because day hunting any of these beaches yield NOTHING.. Theres so many hunters out here now that start at 4 am Buy first light when I get there , The beach picked Clean. There's no point of even going, For instance today, I got to the beach at 10 am I worked the beach till 1 pm.. This is what I got , 2 pennies. 1 quarters something off a zipper and a bad sunburn. what a bunch of @#^%!!! to say the least .. I Know I shouldn't be B!@#$%^ Cause the guys up north can't even get out to go MDing But damn 4 hours for that Crap I got today ,,,,I got to change my strategie,, So I'll be going at Night ,,, And packing... I always carry my pocket knife with me. It's a shame it's illegal to take my 13" dagger.

i hunt at night all the time alone . it is so peacefull. i do worry . but if it is your time to go . at least i'm doing what i love .

A bad day hunting still beats a good day at work. Even if there were no hunters early, it still doesn't mean there was anything more then clad there.

Thanks  for  the  encouragement  there  Treasure hunter ,, I try real  hard  to  keep  my  dobber up , but  sometimes  its  really  hard , however  I  did  meet  a nice  couple  today  From  mass , Tony and  Ginga  ,,from the middle  of  the  state  somewhere . He was  using  a minelab  top  line  land detector .Tony  Hunts  mostly  colonial sites  back  home . So that  was  the  best  part  of  the  Day, meeting  nice  folks  involved in our  hobby..  Take  care  TH,,  Guzz1
