Went to the beach yesterday. My first trip this year so far. It been a brutal winter and it was great to finally get out. I came up with a few coins, all modern:

Roosevelt dimes - 5
Jefferson nickels - 2
Lincoln Memorial cents - 3
Tokens - 1 boardwalk arcade token

Brings my lifetime totals to:

Trips: 3

Modern (clad): $5.21
Quarters: 12
Dimes: 15
Nickels: 6
Pennies: 41
Tokens: 1
(Castle Casino - 1)

I still have a ways to go to catch up to some of you. And I still haven't found a even a piece of cheap jewelry yet. But I am having alot of fun.

You might have been looking at my lifetime totsls (which are still very light - having only made 3 outings so far, all to a beach everybody detects.)

This trip, I only got:

Roosevelt dimes - 5
Jefferson nickels - 2
Lincoln Memorial cents - 3
Tokens - 1 boardwalk arcade token

Why bother with a picture? Its all modern coins found on the beach. A few are badly discolored, a couple are crusted. I'll save the pictures til I find something worth posting a picture of. So many people here have found much better stuff if you want to look at pictures. : )

LOL! Love your calculations of your costs. Like you, I haven't paid off the detector yet from my finds but I try not to factor in my gas costs etc. ... Makes me feel better that I'm approaching paying it off. Bottom line, though, is like you say, the experience (and the exercise) is priceless!! Just a suggestion, if you want to increase your clad total, hit some of the tot lots and playgrounds, especially around the swings. HH.
