Hunting a local lake trying to get familiar with my new, slightly used excal. It was about 4 inches down. Kept losing it through my scoop, then finally pinpointed it, and this is what came out. Still don't know what its made of, have tried the baking soda cleaning, but can't get completely cleaned. And it won't stick to a magnet...that's gotta be a good sign, right??!!

Congratulations. You could try a soak in lemon juice. Sometimes that will remove what baking soda won't.

Pics are there, right? They are on mine, still learning to navigate this app on my nextbook. And Thanks for the info on lemon juice, will try that next. I'm excited! gives me hope...especially after getting only 2 signals in Daytona beach after 2 hours of detecting, and only popping out foil. Lol

Thank You! Couldn't resist urge to use the toothbrush on it... getting brighter, and noticed, what I think, ( fingers crossed ) is a stamp on it.....ohhhh where did I put my loop to see.....was an avid gemstone collector at one point, still with tons of gems in hand....off to hunt for it.
