First silver half

It was great to finally get a half. The ring doesn't have a mark but it sure looks like silver. It was a good day.

sweet finds. I have yet to dig a complete Franklin half. Dug a part of one once, that was strange

Are you sure the ring doesn't have a mark? I swear I see STERLING 925 on the flat oval

I think Relichunter97 may be right - I think i'm seeing a hallmark on the lower end of that oval backplate too - Great finds - I would be very
psyched to find that one . I do think it can be safely repaired with a ring mandrell - very likely without having to remove the stone . Bring it
to a local silversmith , he (or she ) can likely round the shank with gentle pressure of a small mallot and mandrell . You had a great day !

It an inscription that says " UJ Crowe 7-78. It does look like a hand made ring . I'm going to have it tested

have the shank corrected.
