First Silver Today

I've read the posts here quite a bit but now that I've found something decent, I will actually post something.

So I got my first detector as an adult last fall and used it a little but didn't get too far with it before Winter. With a new infant in the family this year I hadn't gotten back out again until the last couple weeks. Of course I've dug a bunch of trash and clad so far. I started finding some wheaties on my last couple outings but until today hadn't found what I had really been looking for...

Got off work and went to an older park for a little over an hour. The place was full of trash and I hadn't found anything except for four destroyed Memorials so far and it was past when I said I would go. Finally got a nice signal and figured I'd at least get a clad dime or quarter and then I'd be off. When I found my target, I could see the grey color and knew it wasn't like everything I had pulled out so far. I am super pleased with my first silver - a 1902 Barber dime. Now I really feel the bug to get out and try again...

Thanks for all the posts that have inspired me to keep at it and finally find some silver...

Very nice find and I'm happy for you. The first of anything, rather it be silver, gold, rings etc. always seems to alude you to the point of giving up. Then the day comes when your dream is realized and you're on a high for many days following. You will have many more first and life will be good to you. Just don't get in a hurry and don't give up. It may be a long time before you have another good find, but it will come. Then you will have a streak where every other item is special. Finding special items every time is unrealistic and you would soon become very bored with the finds because the challange isn't there. This hobby is about, at least for me, connecting with nature, solitude, getting away from the everyday grind and pressures which build up, the thrill of the hunt, the excitement of the find and having family, friends and this websight to share your experiences. May your future be filled with adventure, accomplishments and attainable dreams.
