I have been researching and scanning property to find the exact location of an old plantation. Today I located what I believe to be the overseers house and came up with this quarter. Ironically after browsing through Tnet last night and reading about a very rare half dime, I found myself dreaming about silver coins. I woke up this morning with one goal, find silver. The sad part of the story is that the coin was in excellent shape until I scratched it with my shovel. If my research proves true I should be able to find more goodies near by.

That coin has really good detail. How deep was it?

It was about 4 inches deep and pinged 89-91 on my ATPro. The detail is amazing, I can read all of it clearly, even the liberty on her crown. One day I will buy a camera instead of using my phone.

Awesome find.I bet there are alot more goodies in that spot.Congrats.HH.

Very nice, love the Barber Quarters. Hope you pull lots more out of the location you have researched.

Don't feel bad my 1st was a 1911 barber and I scratched it to... You'll get better not hitting them! Congrats! Warning it's addictive!!

Man that is one nice first if that don't hook ya nothing will congrats to ya & GL

Congrats on your first silver! And a barber to boot! WTG. HH.

That is one helluva first silver! Hope that plantation and your parish and good research continue to deliver.

P.S. I at least, and maybe almost everyone, has laments at digger scratches. I still haven't totally resolved them, but do tend to dig a bit wider and deeper hole than indicated. Of course in roots and deep grass and getting irked I still kind of stab and exert. Heh!

P.P.S. Can I trade you that for my first silver? LOL VERY nice coin! I've never gotten a quarter earlier than a Washington. Grats! :bunny:

Beautifully first silver!!! Congrats! It happens, I scratched my first barber dime, cause I assumed It was a clad, I should have paid more attention to what my detector was screaming in my ear.

I gouged hellouta my first silver dime too, and it was a semi-key date... It happens!

That coin really is in great condition. Really good find there and sounds like you got yourself a place that could yield you a bunch more good ones.....thats exciting!

Nice find and great detail, as far as the scratch goes.. :BangHead: lol

Exciting find, well done!

Thank you all very much, more still to come!!

If that Eagle had an "S" chasing it, you would have a VERY good coin. Few hundred dollar range.
