Well, I just got back from my first time metal detecting with my Garrett Grand Master Hunter CX3. I have good news and bad news. The good news is that my MD can handle wet salt beach sand, no problem, with the depth/discrimination as high as 8. The bad news is that I didn't find anything good. I was out there for 2 1/2 hours, hunting mostly in the lane, but I also hunted where beachgoers usually lay out. I found 3 pieces of aluminum/tin, a bottlecap and a 2001 penny. :-\ Well, at least I know it works. lol The penny was in the lane, during low tide. The other junk was in the dry sand. I didn't see any other detectorists out there, which probably should have been a sign. I found a coral bed, in the lane, with lots of seashells in front of it, so I concentrated a lot of time in that area, thinking that if shells get trapped there, then so might gold or silver. No such luck though. SS

Your doing the right things, just keep at it.

Shucks, I thought the bad new was something, like, bad. That's not bad. Bad is you dropped your new detector in the water (I didn't and hope I never will, knock on wood) or you got ripped off. Count your blessings, however small they are. The other weekend I found thirty six cents. Yesterday (Sunday) I found two pennies. I still felt that was a great day because I was able to enjoy the day and knew that my DFX is working ;D. Just keep on searching...

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I had a good time, even though I didn't find anything. I wasn't ready to call it a day yet, when the sun went down. I'm thinking that it just wasn't a very popular beach, for some reason, which is why I didn't find anything, but one penny. Now, the plan is to work my way south, all the way down to Fort Pierce. Today, I just chose the closest beach, because I was running late and didn't have much time before the sun set on me. SS

SS,

sounds like you still had a good time.

Don't rush it, give it time, enjoy;
the finds will come.

have a good un...............

Patience is the key! That gold is just around the corner. HH Burdie
