Well, I just got back from my first time metal detecting with my Garrett Grand Master Hunter CX3. I have good news and bad news. The good news is that my MD can handle wet salt beach sand, no problem, with the depth/discrimination as high as 8. The bad news is that I didn't find anything good. I was out there for 2 1/2 hours, hunting mostly in the lane, but I also hunted where beachgoers usually lay out. I found 3 pieces of aluminum/tin, a bottlecap and a 2001 penny.
Well, at least I know it works. lol The penny was in the lane, during low tide. The other junk was in the dry sand. I didn't see any other detectorists out there, which probably should have been a sign. I found a coral bed, in the lane, with lots of seashells in front of it, so I concentrated a lot of time in that area, thinking that if shells get trapped there, then so might gold or silver. No such luck though. SS
