I found this ring and a few coins, not to bad considering I have never done this before. Sorry about the pictures I will be needing advice on how to take better ones in the future. The quarter is a RI, the dime is a 2005 D, one penny is 2011 and the others are in just bad shape. Oh one the inside of the ring is marked .925 BSD and the outside says TRUE LOVE WAITS. I had my true love with me so I am going to go out on a limb and say my next True Love Waits would be finding treasures old or new. These items were found on a little man made beach at one of our area lakes.

I was raised in an older home that was built before or right at the time of statehood in Oklahoma, so around 1907. The home had four rooms exactly the same size with a fireplace in the center of the house. So when we moved there we had to add a bathroom because all that was there was an outhouse and a great old barn that burned down later. That was a great loss. So here is the thing, my husband says there will be nothing worth finding there and I disagree. I may not find valuable treasure but I would like to find things that would give me a little history on the home place. In our area of Oklahoma the Indians were allotted 160 acres and I have the abstract showing all the way back to the first person that owned the land. So here is my question to you would you search? I am going to but what are some of the things I should look for? Also the garden area we broke every year would turn up broken pottery or glass.

I will not be able to dig until we get some rain.

Thanks for your help

Welcome to the madness! I would definitely search the old home. All around the house, the garden, where the barn was......Look for things like the path to the old privy (privy holes are a prime spot to dig). I also look for where the clothesline was, you never know what will turn up.

Theda,You've come to the right place!!!Lots of knowledge here.I'd check around any older trees, draw people like a magnet.Any sign of an old clothes line is good too.Along walk ways to the house and to the outhouse.Keep lookin girl, you're doin ok!Be Patient and Persistant! The more you use that machine, the more you'll learn what it's tellin ya!Take your time and go slow, overlap your coil. When in doubt,DIG IT!!!!Pottery and broken glass is always a good sign,as far as the rain,You folks may be waitin a spell!Welcome to TNET.GodBless You All HH Chris

I'm in Oklahoma too, and also grew up in a home that was built in 1909. I found LOTS of old coins around that place. Wheat and Indian head pennies, V and Buffalo nickles, mercury head dimes, and a Walking Liberty half and all sorts of other cool artifacts. Search it often, especially after a good soaking rain and listen for those faint signals of deep targets. You will be surprised how much stuff you'll find.

Thanks to all who have replied. It is going to be fun to search the place but it will probably take a very long time. It is at least 4 acres. The clothes line has been in the same place for as long as I can remember, thanks for the tip. One of the former owners was rumored to have buried some money because he didn't trust banks. There is also a very tiny old Indian cemetery at the corner of my place and no I will NOT be disrespectful and dig there but maybe I should check the pasture area also?

Oh my goodness Theda, you have an extreme wealth of "possible" finds and treasures in your own yard rich in Historical value! It will keep you busy for years and I really believe you will be able to put together an untold story of the History in your area, the back yard! If you are serious, you will end up with a small museum's worth of relics that explains your area. Good luck, let us know how you are doing and ask any questions you may have. Consider digging the outhouse and detect the area between the outhouse and main house. Probably more than one outhouse pit there. I also understand the frustrations of cement like soil, have a few friends in Oklahoma that can attest to hard dirt, LOL. HH, Mike
