Detector(s) used
Garrett AT pro
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
It's been a few decades since I last went detecting. I just got my new detector for retirement and gave it a try today. I went to, what used to be the local post office but is now a private home. We have t had rain in almost 50 days so digging and finding old pieces was near impossible. My daughter and I did find some pennies, 2 dimes, 2 vintage Weeks Flowers tags, and this very odd wolf piece. If you have any insight to what it may be, I would appreciate it. Hoping for better hunting whenever it rains!

good choice on the detector to get back into the hobby. good luck.

Great finds Bamadad ! The wolf piece reminds me of some boy/cub scout memorabilia. Just guessing! Hope you get some rain soon!!

Hi, we love the AT Pro--congrats on your retirement! Nice finds. The wolf item might've been a chime from a wind chime. I have one that is made of metal birds rather than wolves, and the birds have the same hole at the top for the string. -Lisa & John

tape the coil wire to top of shaft, then run pro zero at NO discrimination, and full sensitivity----hover every hit & dig all hits above 45 until you get good at knowing how foil & slaw hit. pop top is 53 and pulltab is 61---BUT, gold is 53 and a crusty IH can get to low 60's. trime can be mid 60's. bottom line is know the area and what can be there. not all great hits are a solid repeat number. brass buckle with iron tongue____get it?? expect to get great digs at over a foot down. now go get dirty :laughing7:

that wolf thing is cool

A fair start with that new machine. We have had very little rain here also{Indiana} Ground is like stone.

Welcome back to the hobby! Enjoy the AT Pro it will find you some nice keepers.

Welcome! My husband and I both have the AT Pro and we love them. It hasn't rained here in forever so I understand totally. Anyway, some good finds there. I look forward to seeing many more posts. Good luck and HH!

Good finds for the first time out with the machine..:occasion14:

The "wolf thing" my guess is that it's a vintage Cub Scout neckerchief slide.
The small hole at the top makes me question that, however.

Welcome to Retirement
Congrats on the AT PRO,, that machine does well in the rain. (In case ir rains)
Hope you get out a few times a week.

congrats on the find and for the AT Pro. I love mine but have thought about a new and larger coil for deeper finds. If i were retired, I'd be out there detecting a lot more. Congrats on that also. This is an awesome hobby and perfect for the retired person as well as the weekender.
