Bought my first MD from Bart, a Minelab X-Terra 705. First time I have had a chance to get outdoors with it was today using the dd 18.75kHz coil. Found the ground quite muddy and still have a solid ice pack at about 3-4 inches in most shade spots. I went to the local park that has football fields and a kids playground, shared with the local elementary. I do not think this park is hunted heavily as it is a small town and winter has just left us. Getting to know the tones, I would say it is very easy to recognize the junk (found a few cans and more pop tabs than pictured, also found a full set of press-on fingernails in a hole with 2 nickels and a dime?) and the good stuff rings loud. 50cent piece was singing ;-) No silver, but very encouraging for a rookie md'er.
