Found some interesting items this morning out in the back yard for a half hour. First signal pulled the plug and nice shard of cord stamped pottery just laying at the bottom of the hole. Target signal was a piece of aluminum garbage. Wheat penny is a 1949D found nearby to the toy work truck parts I found. The shotgun shell end is a brass REM UMC No 12 Nitro Club shell. Thought it was a large copper penny at first as I saw it in the dirt. Pretty good find none the less dating from 1912 to 1934 most likely. REM is for Remington of course and UMC stands for Union Metallic Cartridge Co. The two companies merged officially in 1911. Interesting reads on UMC out there online if you google it. Nitro club is a smokeless gun powder that used nitroglycerin.
