I think all firsts are BIG deals. Sure a wheat cent is not a big deal to a lot of people (at a point), but it is "your" first, and you do have to start somewhere.

I remember my first square nail, and many other firsts. They are all important, and I do think maybe a bit more excitement on your part is in order. Remember there are others who haven't found one yet.

It's a great hobby, and good luck out there.
Keep diggin, more firsts are coming.
If you have a minute, i would like to know the significance of the square nail find.

Where's there one wheatie there is usually at least one more. I've never found a wheat without finding a second or more, may not have been the same day but same location. Congrats on your first wheatie, I hope there are many more coming your way.

HH and thanks for sharing,

Matt

Same here. I once found one and then another on the other side of the field. Usually I will find a handful.

A square nail means an OLD nail used before modern nails today. If you find one, it usually means you are in an old spot!

Excellent share! I think the info here is the equivalent of years of trying and figuring, condensed into mere minutes.

It's an oldie, keep working that spot very slowly and at diffrent angles and your sure to dig something nice... Nice... The roaring twenties Penny...
