Congrats on the first.I probably won't dig one of them for awhile. When I am CW Relic hunting
a place I go threw and dig only the good signals,I might go back one of these days and dig the
iron signals and see what goodies I left to rust more.(LOL)

Nice find Civ! Were they a "one size fits all" tool or were they made for each caliber?
Thank's All  There was a whole different type of length and configuration's DD. Pretty much what came from the Gun was it

That is a FANTASTIC find--and a lesson in the fact that it Pays to dig the iron signals.

Great work.

How many would have thrown it away?

That would be me Ty! :D
and me too Rob...guess it pays to study those books to even know what you may find out there. Remember in our hunt there were areas he told us to dig iron...he is the man.

Civil,
And you thought it was a day wasted. Another great find for your collection. It amazes me how you figure all this out.

You're not illiterate, just not into antique firearms. The artifact is actually called a "tow worm" or "patch worm" and is/was used to remove stuck cleaning patches from muzzleloading guns and for using unspun flax or "tow" to clean the bore.

One of the reasons I like Tnet! Thanks for posting, Civil! When folks share their finds and knowledge of them, I know what NOT to toss out.
I learned something new today.
Nana :)
