First yardsale in many months. (I used this title many months ago too)

I got the urge to go to garage sales today and could only find two. (there were three yesterday)

I used to live in SoCA, no problem in finding more than 50 down there.
The first one was a bunch of old lady junk, stayed 30 seconds.

The other has literally hundreds and hundreds of collector things where the collector knew nothing about valuables.
I bought 4 pieces of metal for one dollar. Three were pewter, I buy all I can for a project I am working on.

I always bring a loupe and could see:
LULLABY
STERLING
1912
I couldn't go wrong for 25¢

It was completely tarnished. The photo is what I have polished so far.
The first thing I polished was an area that had "Laura Lea" inscribed. So I did some research.
I believe I found the original owner. In 1912 she was a little girl in a town 85 miles south of me.
I have sent her granddaughter a facebook message. Only been a couple of hours so no answer yet.
I will offer her the cup first. If she declines I see the exact model going for between $29 and $65

This one was pretty easy compared to other research I do. I work with my Sheriff's department on missing persons. The cup is at least 108 years old probably won't get a good DNA sample.

I don't know if I do this to get a good name. I am just curious about things and I have google to help.

My best and most favorite "case" was right here on t-net in the coin roll hunting forum. You old timers may remember Patrick Earl Houston. For those that don't (this was 2007) he was an obnoxious coin roll hunter that acted like a big time black ex-con gangbanger complete with ghetto talk. He was entertaining to some members but getting on the nerves of others. At work I have to sit in front of a computer all day and I guess I had some time on my hands. It took some time but I exposed him as a 20 something white boy from Atlanta.

Put a layer of ketchup on that cup and let it sit for a few. Wash it and the tarnish will be gone!
