Found this in dried up stream on hill in ohio.notice the cry
staly deposit that looks like teeth also the red pigment that is evident where I assume to be the eye area. It also weighs 6 lbs about the same as a fish would weigh that size. Please Can anyone help to identify it?

Still waiting on input. It weighs 6 lbs and is gritty kind of like sandstone and if u tap it with your finger tip it sounds like porcelain. Plz help identify. Thanks in advance.

Yes! Yes! You've got it! It's a fish fossil . . . a rockfish, no doubt.
Probably used as an effigy by Native American converts to Christianity. Used as a gorget maybe.
Ummm... Six pounds! Still, it's a keeper! I'd hang onto it!

Ohio is such a great place to collect fossils and artifacts!

Yea Im really not sure. I have searched for fish fossils and effigy stones for a while now on the internet and I can't find anything like it. Just going to have to contact someone at ohio university about it
