Fisher F4 Problems

(Sorry it should say Fisher F4 problems for thread title)

I am new to the metal detecting scene. I have went before with friends and family. So I made the decision to purchase a Fisher F4, but it seems like I am having problems with it. I picked it up slightly used but it is practically new.

Problem: No matter how high/low I set the sensitivity it seems to have a ton of false signals. I ground balance it exactly how it says in the manual "bob the detector up and down - slowly turning the sensitivity clockwise till I can hardly hear the beeping". After I ground balance the detector and start sweeping around the yard it seems to go off every 3 feet. Its usually a good tone but when I stop on that location and try and find it, it seems to always be a false positive.

Maybe I am doing this whole process wrong being that I'm a noobie. Any direction on where to go from here would be great! I was planning on making a go-pro video of what its doing.

Let me know!
Thanks!

Make sure your coil connection is tight, and make sure the cable isn't laying on top of the coil. When ground balancing, be sure there is no metal targets under the coil.

Good Luck!

Also, make sure that you don't have any sources of EMI that could interfere with your detector, such as underground or overhead power lines.
