Fishin...two times

Finally got out and caught my first fish of the year over at Turquoise Lake near Leadville CO. This lake was stocked a couple of years ago with 6500 cutthroats. Lots of rainbows in there, and lake trout too. Caught seven or eight and missed more in about 45 minutes on a white roostertail spinner. I fish for bass and catch trout. 4's the limit to keep. Unless I catch more, these fish cost me about $9 apiece. I'm headin back at daylight.

Went back before sunup this a.m. 29 degrees and snow showers were comin in above me at about 12,000ft., but the fish were bitin good.

Hey RGINN, nice catch beautiful scenery! The zebco33 reel, Is that a zebco combo? They don't make those zebco33's like they used to. I have a 1 piece zebco rhino rod that has seen its better days. It has caught miles of fish! no kidding there. Got it in the early to mid 90's. Still used today. I look for the older reels for parts to keep that rod runnin.

Well poorhunter, you might be right, but I did think it was the Zebco platinum. Zebco pretty much started suckin when production moved elsewhere. We used them forever, and used to if there was a problem you sent them to Tulsa and they just sent you a new reel, no problem, but not no more. We saved all our old reels for parts and I still got a box of them that me and my grandpa put together, from the late 50's and 60's. And no, they ain't for sale. I might need the parts.

remember the " old " zebco 202's? They used to have metal gears inside, now the gears strip out on fish over 20 pounds because they have nylon junk gears in them now.

202 was the reel we all started out with, nge. The grownups got the 33's. The 202 we used for catfishing and bass, just an all around general purpose reel. I never wore a 202 out. I am happy to say as of this evening, I have got the cost the cost of those trout down to about $3.00 apiece.
