Thought I would share... kind of funny.
This is the kind of stuff we have to fix day after day after day....
This is ONE level of the dredge.

Gold mining is HARD work. :icon_thumright:

how often is goldhog used instead of carpet and expanded metel?

Why haven't I seen goldhog mats in Parker or Tony's sluice boxes?

Can I run their tailings? ;-)

because if you know how to use allready existing product correctly you don't need it. It's a great product though.

Actually, moss and large expanded in many regions of the world will not work no matter how you use it.
(In a commercial op / plant that is.) This is mainly due to the unique soil composition which is made up of
heavy silts and clays. It's that "orange mud" you often see running, like Todd and Freddy had down in
the jungle. The heavy slurry viscosity can not have ANY... turbulence whatsoever or all your fine gold
gets scrubbed out.

This op was run by a team of pros from the US down in Liberia, with some of the best controlled and documented testing I've ever seen.
(Maybe I'll post some of that if I can find it.) They constantly had losses of 50 - 70% regardless of tuning of the sluices.
They worked very closely with the MANUFACTURER of the plant for six months trying to fix the issues.
In the end, the manufacturer threw their hands up and walked any really pissing off the crew / owners. (Sounds familiar)

We had them pull all the moss and expanded and weld channels, dividing their two 36" channels into 18" channels.
Then install bare mats, decrease their water flow sightly, and change their pitch.

They were thrilled with the results.

They later added a second sluice.

Gold from 7 day run.

That last picture makes me feel funny...

OMG! That IS grams! 7 days??? Sigh

Yes, about $75,000 when they had the one sluice going.
Then they doubled the sluice and yards.
Smaller op with pretty low overhead.

YEP I bet they were THRILLED by the results. I know I was just looking at the pictures and reading your comment!

I would think those big square chunks of gold would get stuck at the top of any sluice lol. Nice work Doc!

62.18 Ounces (1933.9 grams) of gold?
:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

At what might those almost two kilograms of dore bar assay, percentage of gold?

That's pretty cool that a small operation can still make it happen in a world of corporations.
