First pic shows what was exposed stuck into blue-green clay. This piece is so old it is chalky and found in with fossil bone. The work around the edge even some collectors would have to hold it in their hands to see and feel it. (So keep posting them rocks, LOL!)

Did you ever find anything down in that clay?
I've found fossils and artifacts that have settled to it that seemed to have been stuck in the top layer but never found anything down in it.

I believe most of the lithics on the site settled, or where deposited close to, that clay layer. In this location it seems that the fossils and artifacts are coming out from the top of the clay, not too far into it. Horse, Mammoth, tapir, dire wolf, turtle, etc. etc., mostly broken pieces and many of them from near the lithics are scored/cut marks and hollowed out. Found a fist sized piece of mammoth leg bone like a square, with two ends definitely smoothed straight.....

Gator, When I used to actually go out and look for stuff I had the same experience. It seemed artifacts found their way down to a common spot and no deeper. I've found woodland points very near what I felt was paleo flaked tools. I would on occasion dig a little deeper but never found anything so I stopped wasting my time. I bet someone has found something though. Tom, I would have tossed that piece as I don't have the eye for worked stone/shells you have.

Thanks guys.
My fossil hunting experience has had the same result.
I've since quit mucking around in the clay.
But that layer just on top is the goods.

Bone Valley, that's in the Green Swamp right? I've looked in the Peace River but never in the swamp. The Myaaka River is killer for sharks teeth and gets almost no pressure. Big gators and accessibility is the issue. I guess a few fossils shown here wouldn't hurt, because a lot of us posters here are in the "fossil" category ourselves! But there is a fossil forum.

I myself have never found anything in the clay other than in the top layer we have the same blue/grey clay here also.

Never below the clay here either but a lot just right on top of it. Nice piece TomClark! Boom!

If it were up to me I would start an entire sub forum based on this info and techniques..ect.. I've always been a "water person" .... ahhhh.. Glad I still have my fossil hunting!!
If my lovely state decides to take that away I'll have to look into getting a job on a shipwreck salvage boat.. :)

Super find tom and even better info!!!!!
