Found this piece of brown jasper in an area where numerous artifacts have been found... The photos don't really due the piece any justice, but I'm leaning towards just broken rock, maybe flake... what do you guys think? Fits nicely in the hand due to the "pyramid" type angles and it has a nice sharp edge... but could just be coincidence.

All of the above...coincidentally a flakey rock by no means man-made

Thanks for the input. NCPeaches, that's my thought that it's a flake scraper, but it could just as well be a broken rock. There are some areas of interest that are too hard to see in the photo... I believe there is some stuff intentionally knocked off, but I'm just not knowledgeable enough to tell if it's by man or nature. You can see on the bottom (in the top photo with the nickel) and on the right side (in the bottom photo with the nickel) what appears to be a series of chips, almost serrated... that type of wear or chipping is not evident anywhere else on the piece. Personally, I've only found a worked flake but I know someone who has found a number of artifacts (points, weights, etc. -- but I don't know where, because all the times I've been there, I'm not finding them, haha) and it's documented in various local history books/websites that stuff has been found there for years.

Here's the only other thing I found there:

Both pieces in question look worked to me. 1st being probably creek worn.
