Picked up this beautiful point at the flea market today.

Is it an arrowhead or spear point?

Possible area of origin?

Arrowhead looks like Dover flint idk what type or where and IF its real it is very nice ... Nice find

Material - probably Agate or Jasper

Age - a few weeks to a few years

IF the point originates from new jersey(guessing from your name and loc.) Could be PA Jasper. Lots of jasper originating from around Allentown, PA made it all along the east coast.

How big is it?.Lots of fakes out there never know these days unless you pull it out of the ground yourself.

Yes there is jasper in PA and it would be available... but the pics aren't very good, there's no scale to measure by, and what was the price anyway? and close-ups of edges? Big fat suspect until those questions (at least) can be answered, no?

The notches are to finely done, they use small steel tools in India to get such small flaking done. Just from the pics I would say it's a import.

what are we judging this basis on?Nothing is screaming repro to me....I certainly hope we arent calling it fake because of the small notches and fine chipping,cause if so,somebody should have told the Indians out West about that!!

not fake as in machine made...it was definitely knapped.....but fake as in it is modern, not archaic, and not Native American made.

....yea,I understand that(I am a long time knapper and even longer collector)I am just wanting some flags you guys are seeing cause the couple mentioned dont hold water and I can show found examples to prove it

I am not here to argue,and am not saying this one is fake or not...I am one of the biggest skeptics there are and actually my first impression by the first picture's thought,"New",as well,I am questioning #1 the comment that the notches are too small,and that the flaking is too fine...??What?Also,its pretty hard to fake age/patina knapping(it is harder to discern in pieces that are not obsidian)and this looks "aged" to me.......?
