Flint Axe?

I've been kinda busy lately but I got out on 10-5-10 for a while in the morning and found this Flint Axe (Not In situ). The reason I'm thinking it's an Axe not a hand chopper or something, is it's about 5" in length & looks as though it has been halfted (?) in the middle on the top & bottom.

Does anyone have any other ideas I'd a appreciate it.

Doesn't look like a flint axe. Is that flat, left edge, kind of "dipped" on one side? From the image, almost looks like it could be a Clearfork gouge.

I can't tell if that flat side was made that way or was broke I found it in the middle of a river when the water was WAY down, It is river stained bad, a gouge? I hadn't thought of that.

i'll try to get more pics up later when I have some time.

What part of the country are you in? Here is a page about Clearfork Gouges - http://www.ou.edu/cas/archsur/OKArtifacts/gouge.htm
They get very large in some areas, I have seen them attain lengths well in excess of 8". Even though they are named for TX, they have a pretty wide distribution range.

It does look similar to that 1 in the lower right of that pic.

I'll be getting better pics up maybe by sat (sorry, have a lot of stuff going on i.e work,kids football game ect).
