Just back from a trip to Denmark where I managed to get some detecting done with my dad. He had obtained permission to hunt some fields near the inlet of Roskilde. The one field that we detected was loaded with flint tools :icon_sunny: We found more flint tools than metal objects :D (Some of the best flints are in the group shot).

The dandy button was a first for me :icon_thumright:

Thanks for looking and HH.

sounds like you had a blast. I'm really diggin' the button :icon_thumright:

You have any idea of the age of your stone artifacts? The only name I remember may be Mousterian, but I think there were a couple of others, and if they are styles or age periods. I am flabbergasted at these finds. Were there a lot of chips around, or just a bunch of finished tools?

Sweet finds there Spike. Love that little ax head!! Mourning button-very interesting. You have to find the history on that puppy.

Thanks joeyfresh. Yes had a great time and glad we managed to get out. It's the best button I've dug so far.

I think you're right that the flints cover more than one period, but I'm not familiar with the different characteristics. There were many natural unworked flint rocks in the field so difficult to tell whether the chips were from the tool making.

Thanks Michaelangelo. Would love to learn more about the mourning button. The only similar buttons/cuffs I've found on the net had references to GW mourning buttons. It measures about 36-37 mm and the shank is gone.
