Florida Chert Core?

A colleague of mines family found this on their property years ago near Naples.They owned land near the ocean. based on what you can see, does this appear to have some Native American work done to it? If so, what is it?
Looks like several long flake like pieces were removed to create this piece. Any way to date this?

I dig lots of chert and most have the looks of being hand Knapped but I believe nature is the culprit, at least with what I have dug.
