turn it 180 degrees around .-looks almost like the old flaming ordance bomb flames found on ordance (artillery) buttons

fuse from a artillery shell? see the tiny hole at top for a fuse ?

Wow what a neat find. Very good detail in the coil. Nice!!!

very nice! i can see why ivan thought it was iron- is it?

Its a fossil I.E : a remnant, impression, or trace of an organism of past geologic ages that has been preserved in the earth's crust. Rock..................Thanks for asking.

There is a lot of iron in the waters of North Florida, a product of the decomposition of plant material. Some forms of iron oxides which are secondarily deposited under water on fossils and artifacts (as on this aturiid) are goethite and lepidocrocite or hydrohematite.

I like the calcite crystals inside the shell. Common in cherty voids and shell hollows found in these parts. Should sparkle under good light. Kind of a secondary plus in a lot of our fossils, in my opinion. Beautiful specimen!
