Nice group Hal, I have to admit; before I had a better eye and way less educated I can't even remember how many things like that I picked up and discarded. I know for a fact in Georgia that I left many hammerstones behind because I thought what would rocks like this be doing here.... but at least I know better now

Very cool and since I'm just starting my 2 to 3 times a wk walking creeks/river I'm sure I've picked up, walked, stopped looked repeat and put down pieces like a few in picture. Im also wondering in my case only if they are natural cause I have no idea if there was inhabitants here back then.

Yupp, everyone needs a frame of these, I have em scattered as accent fillers in a few point frames, tiny pieces mixed in gives the illusion the points are larger,Lol.

Of course they were in your area, they had 12000 yrs. to leave everything they made, they couldn’t take it with em,I recon there’s millions and millions of artifacts in the ground, not just a few.

How far did that extend there after the Paleo era ? I know Dalton folks used it, but doubt they lived there.

I find em on predominantly Safety Harbor Period sites on the shoreline,

I think micro-lithic pieces are a natural core reduction piece that than were used till dull and than discarded. A flake knife would/could morph into a fine tool and then flaked off debutage would be used for what needed. Fine leather work. Cutting stripping trimming, not enough to resharpen, tossed into the midden.
You have done some great work in cataloging and than displaying for folks to see and understand. I think that lots and lots of these type of artifacts are not seen for what they truly are and picked up and than discarded as nothing’s or added to a bucket full of stuff that never gets any credit or screen time.
I’m about 7 frames behind if you count 4 twice, but who’s counting..... I’ve been missing you and your friendly banter and knowledge. I have a new device that looks like my smart machine I call a phone but I’m not sure if it has a ringer?
