I would apply for a Florida Metal Detecting Permit in advance, Most are free Orlando area Also Get a Fossil Permit for Florida, its a Yearly Application $ 5.00 , I keep these Permit with me. I got the Metal Detecting form by e-mail and faxed it back, and was approved in under 30 minutes The Fossil Permit by United Post Office Service / / goldnugget

I'm in Florida and hadn't heard of a Metal Detecting Permit. Is this something for a specific area or is it statewide? When is it required?

Some counties do require a permit, Orange county now does, permit is free, I do not know of any beach that have permit requirements.
