[h=2]Fluorite Frog[/h]
Hello Everyone,

First time posting, I bought this fluorspar frog effigy from a friend 20 years ago. It was found on the bank of the Ohio River. I have been an artifact hunter for 30 years but have never seen one like it, just decided to post to see if I could get any information on it.

Amazing is the only adjective I can fathom.
Thank you for bringing this here.
It deserves banner recognition.

Jess B.

Really- y'know, I wasn't sure, but I'd be on board with that too. I guess I'd want maybe a little more information?? If that's possible? Sure would be nice to have this forum represented up on that banner though ;)

Maybe if Grasshopper can give as detailed a story as possible along with joshuaream's knowledge?

I think maybe we tend to shrug off things like this- because there are so many instances when things aren't at all what the poster wants them to be. This is not the case here, I don't think. In fact, I think this is remarkable and very worthy of 3-cheers and a banner!

(oops-- posted while TN was posting)

Too bad and a shame. Maybe some way of recognizing it in some other forum? Honestly, I personally have never seen, read or heard of anything like this and am really grateful for joshuaream's input and knowledge on the subject-- as well (obviously) for Grasshopper's posting it to begin with.

It does but being his first post it is ineligible for a banner. But that does not make it a banner worthy find. Very nice.

Personally, I really respect the banner section of this site. I'm sure some people have faked their way in, but 99% of what w see up there are personal finds of people who put in the hours/days/months/years to get to where they are. I buy some cool relics, but I like that it is reserved for established members who find the relic on display.

joshuaream, I totally agree with you.I decided to post to share with members and also to maybe gain some knowledge, which I did thanks to you.

I wonder if you found a kid's stash from many years ago. kids like collecting things like those. kind of reminds me of Tom Sawyer. maybe it was a kid hiding his loot by the river. or they could have just fell out of his pocket.
