Hoping we would get some badly needed rain here in the Northern Shenandoah Valley this week but forecast is no rain for at least another week. My summer kitchen site is dry as a bone - powdery dirt down to 2". Was not expecting to find much more on this site but got cool surprises - 1858 Flying Eagle Cent (#2), 1869 IH, Eagle Shield Button (#2 - Scoville back mark), and what I think are more parts to a musket - found a percussion hammer here last week. Some large iron buckles and not sure what the last item is - 4" in diameter, one half of a ball shaped iron thing - small piece broken off - ideas welcome. Thanks for looking - HH

The round cast iron thing is half of a muffler for a Model 92 gasoline powered Maytag washing machine. That style was used from the late teens to the 50's. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. Tony

PS.The little engine was a two cycle and had a long piece of flex for the exhaust with the ball spark arrestor on the end. That way the washing could be in the kitchen on on the back porch.
