I posted a thumb scraper with a burr a few days ago and had a response about a folsum spur, and a debate! The spur being made on purpose is new to me. Thanks Chase2! I went and looked through all my foloms! Ha-ha I only have one chip in a lifetime of hunting so it didn't take long. Its an honor to influence a culture so old. Was this spur made on purpose? I do not know. The tip is extremely sharp and strong made this way. This is very finley made, they would know more about how a point breaks. I would love to see more and would love any input. I've thought many times how hard it would be to take a mastadon down. Your group would sure have a party that night! This was found with permission on private property in south central Colorado, threre was no indication of anything else. On the bottom right front edge it has been smoothed from use telling me it was used as a scraper and a small knife. I think it's sharper than obsidion:)

What a fantastic artifact! but I do have to agree with 1320 of an impact fracture. The other break is hard to say if it occurred during the same time as the impact fracture. It looks like the tip and I am not seeing modification to the impact side to re-purpose it into a knife or a scraper. A single find would suggest that this was a kill site and there would be other artifacts still in-situ and buried.
WOW most collectors would sell there children into slavery to find that. I would love to handle that specimen/artifact.
The spurred scrapper is more on the outer edge/side of the scrapping end. here is an example not the best exampleP1010355 (800x600).webp

Boy I am glad you found that, so you dont have to sell your son into slavery.:headbang:

you post really good pix!

Thanks for the extra pic's, with you holding it gives prospective on a size reference.
Take extra care with that artifact, looks like the snapped end has a hinge break, that may come off with impact from other surfaces.

Now my kids shouted a sigh of relief, even thou they were not even a twinkle in my eye about a life of slavery.:icon_scratch::icon_thumright: :laughing7:
