I never knew the St. Lawrence River was so treacherous, but apparently there are several thousand wrecks on the bottom. In this article, diver/author Sébastien Pelletier highlights three wrecks he considers notable: The tragedy of the Empress of Ireland (1906–1914), SS Bulk Carrier Leecliffe Hall (1961–1964) and the ore carrier MV Tritonica (1956–1963). Only some generic pictures and a video in French about the inauguration of the St. Lawrence Seaway, but the article is interesting:

Interestingly, all three of these wrecks occurred in foggy weather, and involved collisions with another ship. For some reason, I always thought ships used foghorns to avoid situations like this, but I guess I was wrong...
